The Apple iPad has created a sensation amongst people whose technological knowledge varies from beginner to expert. A simple and thin tablet, the Apple iPad does virtually everything a computer does. It even has its own keyboard! It is beginning to replace laptop computers in classrooms and is being used as an added bonus in car sales, where manuals are uploaded to the device. With the iPad you can: take pictures, surf the web, record video, play Angry Birds, check your email, complete your work tasks, and chat on Facebook all at the same time. It really is an incredible device. Don’t worry, we do not work for Apple. Yet, as we have learned from an early age, nothing is perfect. The Apple iPad has one highly criticized downfall; it has no USB port other than where its charger goes.
The question of the missing USB port raises other valuable questions; is a USB port really necessary, or are USB’s so outdated and un-hip that Apple wouldn’t even dream of putting in that option? We stand by our views, battling the New York Times and now Apple, that USB’s are beneficial and necessary aspects of everyday life and business. Let’s venture into a fantasy world where Apple adds the USB port. Now you won’t have to plug the device into the computer and upload all your pictures, which takes time, from one machine to another. You can be comfortably sitting on your couch, watching guilty-pleasure reality TV, browsing your albums. Whatever other documents you have on your flash drive can be securely loaded onto the iPad without it ever being plugged into a desktop. A USB flash drive is technological freedom from computer cords.
We have to agree with the multiple online tech blogs that have since criticized the iPad about its false rumors that iPad 2 will have a USB port. Perhaps Apple is rejecting “old” technology, but with this in mind, it is also turning away customers who are set in their ways and comfortable using accessories like custom USB’s. Even if the gossip is true and people are moving away from imprinted flash drives, few people are moving away from external hard drives, which also require a USB port. External hard drives, which can also be custom imprinted, hold the extra data that a computer or iPad does not have room for. So if the iPad becomes a popular home or school device that is frequently used, and possibly replaces laptops, notebooks, and desktops, the iPad will have to succumb to the USB port request and created the iPad 3. This will allow users to dump their data wherever they see fit, without being limited to a single device.
If iPad is ahead of its time or if it’s still working out its usability system, we’re reaching out and saying “create a USB port!” For more information about personalized USB’s and how they can benefit you, your company, or your newest tech product, contact sales@ipromo.com or call 888-994-7766.
